First Monsoon rains

Cool down dear Nagpur,
Heat's being scorching high.
Summer's going past us,
Welcome cloudy sky.

47 degrees Nagpur you have been
Burning weather have we seen.
Trees had shed their leaves away.
In hot summer noon indoors we stay.

And here comes monsoon again,
Making our hot minds sane,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.

No more hot noon for energy to drain,
Children out with paper boat again,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.

No more in noon be empty a lane,
To play in waterponds on roads again,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.

Farmers hoping good crops gain,
Least their diligence go in vain,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.

Titillating words in poet's brain,
Inspiring him to write again,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.
(Author note: Poem composed after first monsoon rains in second week of June in 2015 in Nagpur.)
